LCRA is a community service association of volunteers dedicated to the restoration of Lake Champlain, "The Jewel of Western New England".
The mission of this Association is to educate the public about the effects of nuisance aquatic weeds and to promote the restoration and improvement of Lake Champlain for the benefit of those who live along its shores and use its waters.
Our Goals Are:
1) To control and eliminate native and non-native nuisance aquatic plants and animals that are harmful to the lake, particularly but not limited to Eurasian watermilfoil, water chestnuts and zebra mussels.
2) To encourage, support and participate, when and where appropriate, in programs and studies that further the mission of the Association.
3) To monitor activities and events that could affect the lake and take appropriate action to ensure they are not harmful and are conducive to preserving and advancing the ecological well-being of the lake.
4) To provide educational semainars, workshops and materials about nuisance aquatice weeds and how to prevent their spread.

Lake Champlain was discovered by French Explorer Samuel de Champlain (1567-1635) who explored Central America and the northern part of North America for France. He explored the lands surrounding the Saint Lawrence River and reached as far south as northern New York at Lake Champlain, which is named for him. |
